Trivia
- The oldest of three siblings, Caspian is accustomed to employing subtle psychological tricks in order to ensure cooperation from others. He’ll find ways to either incentivize or cajole people into lessening his responsibilities. He is also prone to telling bold-faced lies.
- He once told the youngest Belafonte, Undine - who was in middle school at the time - an elaborate story about an aquatic sewer creature that would pull her down the bathtub drain if she showered for more than 30 minutes. That got him the result that he wanted; at least for a few years.
- He once told the middle Belafonte, Ywain - who was in high school at the time - that if he got a D or below on any test, Caspian would come to school dressed as their mother and have a sincere conversation with the teachers. That also got him the result that he wanted, though he laments that he didn’t have the chance to do the performance of a lifetime.
- He claims that such a deceptive approach is good for building character, as he ensured that his siblings won’t get tricked by a conniving person like him in the real world.
- He prefers using real seafaring techniques rather than relying on his Value. He has an expert grasp on nautical charts, as well as more advanced methods such as utilizing the air pressure, currents, and stars.
- Ever since one particularly harrowing voyage, Caspian has been seen with an eyepatch. Whenever anyone inquires, he simply claims that he has no use for his left eye. Not at the moment, anyway.
- He is careful to wear it at all times. No one has seen what is underneath.
- Sharks are his favorite animal, though he has a soft spot for horses as well. He would often be found at the family’s stables growing up, and eventually he could tame a horse as easily as he could swim. As an adult, whenever he’s on land, he’ll find any opportunity to ride horseback.
- Enjoying the reactions from people more than anything, Caspian loves weaving tales of the adventures he’s had at sea. According to him, he’s encountered people, creatures, and lands so amazing and dangerous that they seem straight out of folklore.
- His shipmates usually join in the performance rather than refuting his narrative.
- Vera Zhou, professional collaborator and close friend, describes him as somehow the most irresponsible and least insufferable person she’s had to work with.
- He has also been described by his collaborators as the consummate master of childish tactics and caspar the friendly pirate or whatever.
- Eight is an unlucky number for him. He wishes that everything could end at seven - a number he associates with fate and fortune.
- Naïve and sheltered, Caspian was much different as a child compared to who he is today. He was a daydreamer who wanted nothing more than a thrilling adventure, so he often got caught up in the wrong crowd. Soon, he learned to protect himself and level his trust in others.
- Various vices are in Caspian’s arsenal - alcohol, smoking, drugs… spending months at sea has made him quite adventurous with his indulgences. And he’ll never overlook an opportunity to let loose.
- He has built a strong tolerance to different chemicals as a result. He finds this a net positive, as he prefers not to worry about being poisoned.
- Overly prideful, dignified people are his favorite to tease. His diplomatic role allows him to work with all kinds of noble personalities, and he purposefully disconcerts them by remaining his easygoing self.
- Yearning to find someone who can match both his wits and battle prowess, Caspian tends to initiate games of all sorts with his peers. Whether it be chess, a quick sparring match, or even a pop quiz - everyone is kept on their toes around him.
- An equal opportunity kind of guy, Caspian has been known to flirt with all kinds of people. He has even proposed marriage as a viable tactic in certain situations.
- This could be moreso to ease tensions rather than express anything serious.
- Going from place to place has allowed Caspian to take up bounty-hunting on the side. He claims that he does so purely for the thrill and reward, and people shouldn’t trust him to act as a reliable protector.
- Even though he works in diplomacy himself, he dislikes many aspects of politics. He believes that one’s pride and stubbornness should never get in the way of what’s fair and true, and that potential compromise always deserves a chance. In general, he encourages people to think critically - of others, of the world, and of themselves - and be open to change.
- He is particularly critical of devotion to religious establishments, as absolute trust is something that is earned among humans.
- Salacia Magindara, naval veteran and feared marine commander, was his mentor when he was first deployed at sea. She would inspire him to choose Sapphire as his military Color Code.
