Chroma

CS   Think of it as...

CS   A grab-bag filled with all kinds of prizes.

CS   What you get is up to chance, yes.

CS   But you can still influence your options.

Chroma, in a physical sense, is the energetic essence of a person. It evolves alongside them, reflecting their identity, experiences, and drive. It is also responsible for the special Value they may learn to hone.

In a spiritual sense, it represents the soul. Though the concept is generally applied to humans, philosophers may also apply such to other living or even non-living entities.

Color Codes

Chromas are felt rather than seen, and their energetic makeup prevent them from permanently maintaining a solid, static form. However, the majority of people are able to align their Chroma with certain hues, which can be further labelled with Color Codes. Like titles, these can be changed depending on the person's view of the self, and some may adapt multiple Color Codes.

Some rules are largely accepted. The 'color' of a Chroma rarely changes dramatically. For example, if it is a shade of teal, it may verge into neighboring color families, such as green and cyan, but it is highly unlikely to evolve into a color on the opposite side of the spectrum, such as red.

Color Codes take great precedence as symbols of identity - finding and accepting one often begets a new, matching name, symbolizing the acceptance of the current self.

Chromascopes

Depending on the hue of one's Chroma, they will fall into a certain color group, assigning them one of the patron gods. It is claimed by proponents of Synestheism that one's alignment can be used as a method of divination in a practice known as Chromascopes, regarding their personality and future events.

However, there are no scientific studies that have shown support for such practice, and the methods used for such are considered to be examples of pseudoscience. Furthermore, some psychological tests have shown that it is possible to conjure personality descriptions and foretelling generic enough to satisfy the average person, an effect based on conviction rather than evidence.

More information on individual Chromascopes can be found at the Synestheism page.
