Oswald Anthemusa

A gleeful, heartfelt romantic who can skillfully read people and assess any kind of relationship potential. Nothing thrills him more than the budding of true love, which is why he can never stay out of other people’s business.

However, he doesn’t have much romantic experience himself; what a hypocrite!

• Love can be a competitive subject. Though normally a pacifist (or at least a very nosy observer), Oswald will get riled up if his pride as a romantic aficionado is on the line. He will also defend his taste to the bitter end.
• Oswald loves romantic movies and will drag a couple of friends with him to the theater.
  • He has gotten in trouble for cheering obnoxiously during high points of the movie, as well as stealing some promotional displays of attractive characters.
  • With media in general, his interest can be easily piqued by romantic appeal alone. Even trashy romance is highly entertaining to him, like soap operas and corny dramas.
• Values in the Super Family are typically strongest in specific parts of the body. For Oswald, his main weapon is the eyes. In order to limit any accidental activation, he is usually seen in public with sunglasses.
• Expensive gifts are inaccessible for the average romantic. Therefore, Oswald has done his duty and combed through every colorful, cheap dessert you can find in a supermarket. So, if you need a delicious, yet inexpensive present for your sweetheart, he is the go-to expert.
• Makeup and modeling are in his career repertoire. This was mainly possible due to his older sister, Rosalyn, and her connections to the beauty industry. While he still practices it as a hobby now and then, he adamantly remains a professional matchmaker above all else.
  • His eyes are usually covered in public, but he still makes the effort to touch them up whenever he goes outside. Beauty is for the wearer’s benefit, after all.
• Ever since he was a child, he’s been afraid of bees. He received a nasty sting one time after playing in a meadow. Crying, he ran to Rosalyn for comfort, though she chuckled and told him that they were the mighty, noble protectors of all the flowers he was skipping around and trampling on.
  • Since then, he’s approached flora with a gentle reverence, hoping he could be their benefactor, too. He even made sure he could wield a sharp weapon of his own.
  • He hasn’t learned his lesson with bees themselves, though. Since then, he’s gotten stung several more times, and he still refuses to ally with them on principle.
• As an infant, Oswald was the epitome of the cherubic, chubby baby. Rosalyn still has photos that she uses as blackmail whenever he really pisses her off.
• Socially, he is a minor celebrity. Even as a child, he was known by the public due to being an Anthemusa - and the sibling of Rosalyn. His school years saw him quickly climb the social ladder, which would only feed his appetite for meddling and drama.
  • Skylar Akil, his classmate, knew little about him due to their being in different cliques. However, she complained plenty about some fluffy prep showing up to the soccer games and distracting everyone from her sick spin moves.
  • Ciel Akil, another classmate, was a target for a matchmaking attempt. However, Oswald quickly got distracted by his artwork and redirected his efforts to making requests instead.
• AMORE is akin to hypnosis, where one is compelled to feel a certain way once affected. It is an incredibly powerful Value if matured, as it is capable of turning a target into an entirely different person. As a result, his Value is one of the few responsibilities Oswald takes very seriously.
  • As a matchmaker, he tries to limit usage of his Value as much as possible.
• Nudity is deeply sacred to Oswald. He’s waxed poetic about the intimacy of both heart and body, the body in particular (and what can be done with it) being a symbol of humanity’s beauty. This is how he justifies all the smut he has on his phone.
• Enchanted by the vast Anthemusa gardens, various floral Specter reside outside of their residence. On one of his walks, Oswald would discover a Hymnotic hidden among Orchidaceae, swaying like a flower blown by the breeze. He declared his intentions to bond then and there, claiming that the Hymnotic blushed and accepted just as passionately.
• Quite a few people have confessed their love for him, but Oswald has never entered a relationship.
  • As much as he infringes on other people’s love lives, he’s strangely private about his own.
• Unlike most of the siblings in Chromasynth, the Anthemusas were born so far apart that Rosalyn is over twice Oswald’s age. He tends to hand-wave the gap, blaming his parents for going out with a bang.
• All kinds of romance delight him - even those rife with drama, tragedy, and unrequited feelings. He can be insensitive about other people, treating them like characters in magnificent stories playing out on a grand stage rather than those suffering from serious, interpersonal conflicts.
  • He maintains that he’s a benevolent party who only wants to see true love come to fruition.
• Little is known about his personal taste in partners. He’s joked that if word ever goes out about his type, they’ll have to face the wrath of both his fanclub and Rosalyn. And that isn’t a fate he’d wish on anyone.
