Avril Sahraoui

A laid-back, fun-loving thrill-seeker who is always looking for the next biggest wave to ride, both literally and metaphorically. She rarely allows the consequences of her actions to deter her - in some situations, they add to the thrill.

This has led to a never-ending cycle of bad decisions and seamless recovery.

• For Avril, turning down a dare is the ultimate act of cowardice. This is a standard she holds strictly, though only to herself - she isn't one to peer-pressure others.
• Little is known about the accident that caused Avril to lose both of her legs. Avril uses that to her advantage and makes up a different story whenever someone asks. Such as a chemical explosion. Or an epic sea monster attack.
• Every Sahraoui, historically, has an extremely durable body. Avril noted that it takes around four times the usual amount of pain medication for it to affect her, and the same was true for her mother, and her mother before her.
  • Avril's extended family includes the Zahraouis - notably, cousin and pop starlet Stefani Zahraoui. They have a close bond and frequently go out on the town to wreak havoc together.
• Surfing competitions are the main source of income for Avril, though she also participates in other competitions if there is a financial reward. Or if it's fun. Or if her pride is involved.​
  • Avril has won contests for the biggest cannonball, longest time to hold your breath underwater, most cocktails drunk in a minute, and most phone numbers collected from strangers in a bar.​
• Her leg prosthetics also double as a container. Drinks can usually be seen sloshing around inside of them.
  • Avril's current mission is to persuade Jenny Faire, the architect behind her legs, to make prosthetics that keep the objects inside cool, like a freezer.​
• Avril boasts an above-average intellect despite her lifestyle. For example, she is an avid drug and substance user who understands exactly what chemical and biological processes are taking place. She claims that health and wellness were her best subjects in school.
• Nearly every establishment Avril's been banned from has close friend Ceto Portokalos banned as well, because Avril has a tendency to rope him into plans to get her un-banned.​
  • Ceto doesn't mind the bans, because they're, more often than not, places he doesn't care to spend time in, anyway (like strip clubs and trashy pancake diners). He is usually more annoyed by Avril's plans, which end up being embarrassing for everyone involved. Him, especially.​​
• Developing her American coastal surfer-girl speaking style apparently took many years. A hint of her original Australian accent can still be heard when she's drunk or emotionally compromised.
• Summer is her favorite season for obvious reasons, though she also enjoys autumn due to her enjoyment of sweaters and pumpkin spice.
• Even though she would make Peach Beach her home, Avril travels down to Florida often, claiming that it's the state that most resembles her home country/continent.
  • Avril ended up appearing in a mythical 'Florida Man' headline one day, when she attempted to evade arrest by sicc-ing several live alligators onto the police. She did not evade arrest.​​
  • Avril also appeared in a headline for calling 911 in order to get a ride to a strip club.​​
  • Avril makes sure to visit Mimiland whenever she's there, since she enjoyed fairy tales as a kid.
• Avril does her own piercings - such as her bellybutton piercing - because her older sister also had done so. She was the one who pierced Ceto's ears.
• For anyone with Avril’s Value (APNEA), it is near-impossible to suffocate or drown, even when it is not consciously activated. As a result, she can be seen relaxing or even sleeping face-down in water - to the horror of the average passerby.
• Of the ​named competitors in any season of The Program, Avril was the least driven by any potential chance of victory, seemingly joining in favor of the risks rather than despite them.
  • Her Q&A displays a concerning level of nonchalance at the possibility of her own death, though this is common among lower-class applicants due to the declining state of the economy.
  • Her statement about gaining fame based on wipin out on national television may be alluding to the various competitors who, posthumously, became famous due to their deaths occurring during The Program.​​
• Animal welfare is a deep concern of Avril's, and she will briefly snap out of her chill persona to remind someone to pick up their trash from the beach.
• Marine birds are Avril's favorite type of animal, and she always manages to attract a few at her side whenever she goes to the beach. It has caused trouble on more than one occasion, though she's too enamored with them to care.
  • Seagulls are her favorite animal. She affectionately calls them 'sea galahs' and goes out of her way to make sure they're fed and never hurt.
