Märchinchin
The Fable Specter. Märchinchin are remarkably innocent Specter who always get into trouble. They’ve been a staple of human culture since ancient times, particularly in children’s parables. Trivia
- From childhood, Mimi was involved in the beauty industry. She was in child pageants ever since she was 5, and once she outgrew them, she became a teenage model. Much of her skills in presentation and makeup come from this stage in her life, as well as the idealized image of a woman.
- Her trophies, crowns, and sashes are still in her room - a reminder of how far she’s come.
- Amusement parks always interested Mimi, which is why she built one for her company as soon as she could. Her main goal was to create one dedicated entirely to fairy tales, particularly the ones featured in her films. Currently, it has the largest cumulative attendance than any other theme park in the country.
- The ‘mascot’ of the park is… herself, alongside her Specter. Though her films are either original or based on classical stories, her brand is covered top to bottom with Mimi.
- Among the hundreds of employees maintaining the park, there are only two entertainers - a clown and a jester. This is a relatively new position, as the park largely keeps people busy with attractions.
- Initial abilities from MERGE are merely illusionary; one can manipulate what is seen in a reflection and nothing else. However, with training, reflective surfaces can be entered and traveled through like portals.
- Mimi prefers taking these shortcuts throughout the park, which is only half the reason why there are so many mirrors throughout the place. It also helps her oversee and overhear everything.
- Ruthless and manipulative, Mimi was quite the ‘mean girl’ during her teenage years. She saw everyone around her as competition and only had sights on what could benefit her. It doesn’t help that her modeling career fueled her paranoia that people would only take advantage of her.
- 'Ever after’ fairy tales are the staple of Mimi’s animated films. They are typically inspired by public domain stories, as she likes to avoid getting into copyright disputes as much as possible.
- Ironically, they are rarely ‘royalty-free’, as she finds any excuse to put in fantasy nobility, even when the original tale doesn’t involve any. She also likes inserting herself into live performances, even when an obnoxious princess isn’t involved.
- She expresses a deep hatred for West Coast film starlet Diana Morozov, another notable beauty in the entertainment industry. Even though their movies and aesthetics are completely different, Mimi seems threatened nonetheless. Diana, on the other hand, can Hardly Give a Damn About Anyone in Pastels.
- The first film she ever made was called Miyuki - the story of a princess whose beauty was envied by her wicked stepmother. The film has since been overshadowed by her more recent works, though they all feature a similar fairy tale formula.
- Miyuki was based off of the first story she was told as a child, or at the very least the earliest one she could remember.
- Of all the Specters, Mimi chose to bond with a Märchinchin purely out of comfort and nostalgia. Though they hardly match her royal aesthetic, Mimi argues that there was no better option. At least they’re cuddly, like the stuffed animals she had.
- Names are a sensitive subject for Mimi, who prefers to go by anything but her full first name. Her main moniker is based off of her name during her child pageantry years - ‘Princess Mimi’.
- She went by her American name (Marianne) for her modeling career. She claims that it was a strategic move, as people seemed to like it better than her Japanese name.
- Eternally distrustful of those around her, Mimi keeps much of her resources in the ‘Mimi vault’. It is rumored to contain materials too salacious for the general public, though it’s more likely just an archive.
- On Mimi’s sketchpad drawings, her employees make appearances as cartoon creatures. Heidi is a chipper little mouse, and Claude is a downcast duck. The choice of animals seems to be a… personal decision.
- From the first episode of the Program’s 180th season, Mimi made herself known as a vicious competitor. She strategically preyed on the weak and targeted the competent, with eyes squarely affixed to the prize.
- Her path to Championship ultimately failed, as the remaining 2 competitors were wise to her tricks.
- Art is her longest-running interest. Whenever she wasn’t being dolled up for an event, she was attending art classes. This would evolve into filmmaking, and though it was initially only a hobby - writing, animating, and directing films - she was able to establish herself in the entertainment industry as an adult.
- She was only able to do so with the support of her mother, who always encouraged Mimi to express herself artistically. She was the one who introduced her to the field of animation, where good triumphed over evil and stories always ended happily.
- Luminous idol Mililani Gardner is her nephew and only living immediate family. His father and her brother, Shion, lived not with the Ōshiros but rather with relatives in Hawaii. She doesn’t mention him often, but when she does, she speaks of him bitterly - emphasizing her superiority over him.
- Like all Values in the ABSTRACT CONTROL family, GLASS depends on emotional regulation. One can create falsehood in a reflection, but distinguishing that from reality becomes impossible for the unstable.
