Susie Rockett

A rude, sarcastic punk who never grew out of her rebellious teenager phase. With a hoarse but well-trained voice, she sings and strums her heart out as the guitarist of the Rockett duo.

• Punk rock is Susie’s musical designation of choice, but her taste encapsulates multiple categories of rock music. They include alternative rock, post-punk, and gothic rock.
  • She prefers more modern and experimental rock music - her own way of rebelling against her mother and rock icon Joan Rockett, who enjoys older genres such as heavy rock.
• Outside of art, music, and a little bit of English, Susie did horribly in school. Her first argument is how much trouble she got into with other students; she was a loner and target of bullies, so much of her time in school was fighting with her peers. Her second argument is that homework is for nerds.
• Idol and controversial musician Mililani Gardner reached out to Susie when her music career was just beginning. He lent her his musical expertise, as well as his knowledge of performance, touring, and branding. She begrudgingly agrees that she couldn’t have made it this far without his help, but she holds firm her dislike of him, his music, and his industry.
• St. Steel, the city where she made her musical debut and would later make her home, was the inspiration for her Color Code. She had previously experimented with different shades of pinks and purples.
• Due to her status as an independent artist, Susie lacks a corporate manager and general restrictions that would force censorship in her songs. She has gotten in legal trouble with The Synesthetic Program specifically, accusing them of unethically capitalizing off of people’s desperation.
• Music has always been an armor she crafted to protect herself. Before she started writing her own songs, she would lose herself in music all the time. Most of her songs are filled with impassioned yelling, and she encourages her listeners to use them as a means of venting and self-defense as well.
  • ‘Never Fallen in Love’ is about a relationship from the perspective of someone who only hurts their smitten partner. The singer asks the listener if they’ve ‘never’ fallen in love like them, since if they truly felt love, the relationship would never involve such pain.
  • ‘The Adults Were All Right’ focuses on the disillusionment of growing up. It features several different ambitious children who end up struggling, miserable, or dead. The singer emphatically states that adults who temper hopes of the young were right all along in such a cruel world.
  • ‘Metal Girl’ talks about an intense, confident girl whom everyone unfairly vilifies. The singer shouts to the world that they hold this girl in the highest esteem, calling her their best friend, sister, and inspiration.
