Luckily, there's a nice park nearby, so you decide to take a walk before circling back to the florist. It's a nice day; you don't mind spending some of it soaking in the sun.
But as you turn to head to the park trail, a glimmer of gold catches your eye. You peer into the distance to see someone sitting in a nearby cafe, seemingly glancing your way. They lower their sunglasses, and you recognize those eyes and smile.
Y/N G... Grace?
They wave you over. You look around just in case they're looking for someone else. But no, it's just you on the sidewalk. So you walk over, a little intimidated despite knowing Grace personally. It's rare to see them in public without a crowd of bodyguards and paparazzi, after all.
GR Y/N.
GR What fortune to see you here, this day of all days. =)
GR Please, take a seat. I am not expecting anyone else.
She gestures to the empty chair opposite of her. You sit down and try to make yourself as comfortable as possible, though you can't help but lean in and lower your voice when you speak up.
Y/N (I'm surprised no one's recognized you.)
Her outfit is atypical of her style; the hijab is a black, almost dark blue, while her large trenchcoat is nearly swallowing up her body.
GR I understand your confusion.
GR However, be rest assured. No one will.
GR There is a press conference that the Champion is currently attending.
Y/N (No way. Did you...?)
GR The Program is very... resourceful.
GR You would be surprised at how many MIMICs they hire for public events.
Truth be told, there have been rumors about Program PR being so strict that rather than sending actual alumni, they pay someone to temporarily adapt their image in their place. No evidence has been conclusive, since it'd damage their vow of authenticity. But you've had an idea for a while.
Y/N (So, you're sure?)
GR Oh, there are very few certainties, Y/N. I cannot say for certain.
GR But I am not in danger. There are guards surrounding us as we speak.
You're tempted to look around again, but the look in Grace's eyes compels you to act just as nonchalant.
Y/N (Are they disguised too?)
GR They are very skilled.
GR Do not worry. You are not in danger.
GR Unless you strike me, of course. Then your life is forfeit.
Y/N (Ah... okay.)
Y/N (That's... reassuring.)
You return to a regular position on your seat, taking deep breaths to calm yourself. Grace takes a sip of what looks to be a honey iced tea.
GR What are you doing here, Y/N?
Y/N At Forest Grove?
GR At that Eleazar place, specifically.
Y/N I was going to buy some flowers.
Y/N I've been waiting for today, and it seems like the right time...
GR Yes, the weather has been warming nicely.
GR I am afraid I am not a Winter's person.
Y/N Oh, not because of that.
Y/N Because today's the special holiday. You know the one.
Y/N I thought a nice bouquet would be a good expression of my feelings.
GR And who is the receiver of such gift?
